Hear hear! It would be great if Lightwave/Modelor would support the
display database on the Amiga and let me choose how to run it. I have a
Spectrum graphics card and run 8 bit and 16 bit screens at 1120/832 on
a 20 inch monitor. It's a pre-4000 Amiga (and better in most respects
than an A4000: A3000T-35mhz 040). I use EGS 7.x and also have
the option of running Cybergraphics.
Other up to date Amiga software I use lets me choose the screen size and
color depth up to 8 bit. Right now I have to run special EGS versions of software
to get 16 bit (or 24 bit at lower resolutions).
8 bit would be enough for more colors in LightWave.
Cybergraphics should make 16 and 24 bit screens possible for most standard
Amiga software on a variety of graphics cards without too much extra work.
It would sure be nice to have at least 8 bit support in the new LightWave's
Amiga interface.
Consider this another request from the chorus of faithful animators who will not
be selling their Amigas any time soon (even if I do add some other platform
at some point I will still be using this machine).
Thanks,
-Jamie
PS. Does LW 4.0 let you preview solid shaded models from within Modeler?
